Reducing screen time thread, join me!

I have been using my phone farrrrr too much recently, scrolling through the same few apps for hours every day.

I feel like it’s affecting my energy levels and concentration (and probably my sleep). There’s so many other more productive things I could be doing with my time. So I’m going to try and reduce it to 2.5 hours a day.

I’m job hunting at the minute, and also going through an unfair dismissal/tribunal process, so I can’t cut it out completely.

Does anyone want to join me?

Twitter account deactivated. Step one. Done.

I need to do this too. I am amazed how much time I’m on it and how often I just check to see if I have a message, work email, Facebook notification etc.

I’m a bit ashamed actually.

I’m now down to about an hour a day.
Facebook, Pinterest now deactivated.

My biggest addiction is Mumsnet and I’m working on quitting.

I need to wean DS of bloody game sites. God knows who is on there. He won’t listen to my advice that ‘on the internet no one knows you are a dog’.

HamiltonCork Wow an hour a day, that’s really good.

I was tired and felt unwell yesterday and was back to the pointless hours of scrolling.

I’m not going to be too hard on myself. I have a toddler, no job and not much of a social life at the moment (although I’m working hard to improve the latter two) and the internet means I’m able to connect with others and keep my brain active. But once my energy levels start to drop because of it, I know it’s time to step back.

So back to square one today Smile

Hope everyone is doing ok and enjoying their screen-free time!

I managed to stay off my phone for most of yesterday. Only an hour in total. Only 30mins so far today as well, but that will change no doubt! Blush

Even after a day ive noticed that although im picking up my phone i do stop and think about why im looking at social media. So that is good progress in my books!

Need to buy a real alarm clock instead of using my phone all the time!

I have mine set to 1hr on social media, yesterday it lasted until easily 6pm which I was very pleased with. Today, not so good. I do use it a fair bit in the evenings but it's the daytime use I'd like to cut down on.
