Babygrows for long legs

Stillmonday · 28/01/2019 21:31

My baby is only a week old and weighs just over 7 lb but his legs are really long so newborn sizes are too short but bigger sizes swamp him.

Any idea where sells newborn sizes for long legs???!

I always found next babygrows came with long legs

Elpheba · 28/01/2019 21:37

Or go footless and add socks. H&M have quite a few without feet- can’t think of anywhere else off the top of my head...

1st time round I cared, second time I've sized up to 3-6 because he needs the length and completely ignored the width issue. Mothercare and Next are the last 0-3s standing.

Tights under footless can work but struggling to get sensible sized tights for scrawny legs. Never managed to keep socks on 1st child - I have 1 sock on which probably says it all. This time I have found too long socks (up to knee) seem to stay on better, but have no idea what size they are allegedly as all too small for DD socks now "belong" to DS!

I was also going to say get footless ones and put socks on him.

This is the perfect excuse to buy Slugs and Snails tights with dinosaurs on. They work as leggings, as the pattern goes all the way up. My kids are sadly too big now.

I cut the feet open, then put socks on top. Solved the problem til their bodies caught up to their legs. Grin

Next and M&S seem to have longer lengths.
It is so annoying. DS is slim with long legs. So if I size up they be hanging off him and too long in the arms. I have bought him some pyjamas. We got a lot of babygros as gifts though so wanted to use them.

BowBeau · 28/01/2019 21:51

I bought footless (or cut feet off) and put socks on. Now he’s a bit older he wears leggings or dungarees with socks during the day and footless pyjamas at night.

Mothercare do a very handy size of “up to one month 10lb”. These fitted my new born 9 pounder very well.

SoyDora · 28/01/2019 21:58

Next

Nellabella · 28/01/2019 21:59

I found Next short! I liked Boden really good for length

Nala8 · 28/01/2019 21:59

I have found Mothercare to be the best for longer legs and also footless using the next size up socks

Figmentofimagination · 28/01/2019 22:04

Primark are good for long and slim. They always seem to be on the slim size, so buy 0-3 months.

SoyDora · 28/01/2019 22:05

I find mothercare really short!

ittooshallpass · 29/01/2019 06:41

Boots were good for long length..

endofthelinefinally · 29/01/2019 06:47

I got loads of extra wear by cutting the feet off and using socks. You can sew socks onto the ends if you have time or a helpful granny.

Cookit · 29/01/2019 07:03

I WOULN’T recommend Next for this. Mine was a 6lber and gained perfectly normally (so not big) but was out of their newborn quickly because his feet used to stretch the feet on the babygrows.
Footless are probably the way to go.
