Expensive mistakes.

I lusted after a new pushchair for weeks. Didn’t actually need it as DD was happy enough in her travel system but I HAD to have it. DH thought it was a waste of money but I wore him down.
New pushchair is rubbish for winter as no cozy toes and you can’t even buy them in the colour I have. The steering is really bad on it and when it folds down it’s bigger than my pram.
Feels like money down the drain. Please share your expensive mistakes to make me feel better!

I ordered 3 roller blinds online and they are not the same colour as on website. Of course they have been made to order so are non returnable and the small print says they can't guarantee the colours are accurate so please order a free sample to be sure.
Too bloody late now. My bathroom is ruined. Ruined. BlushTo my shame I tried to persuade youngest DC to have blind in thier bedroom. Sensible child said No.

I was taking to someone who had just bought her new car and hadn't realised it didn't have a CD player. She is now intent on replacing this new car with one that has.

Surely you can use a blanket or a neutral coloured cosytoes?? Its seems like a more obvious solution to an "expensive mistake" Confused

When we first bought this house we decided to buy a fireplace. It was £500 and very heavy polished stone.

The night before it was due to be fitted, DH and I had a silly argument, he lobbed something on the floor and the fireplace leaning against the floor on the badly fitted laminate wobbled, fell over and smashed.

DH left the house, came back a couple of hours later. He cried, I cried. I’m pretty certain he thought I was going to break up with him. Pretty sure I made the right decision not to Wink

I’m a terrible impulse buyer and am also very good at justifying completely ridiculous purchases to myself Blush. I’m too embarrassed to share any others!

Lost AirPod case

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 15/01/2019 23:50

Oh god @BaconPringles you’ve reminded me of the time I bought an iPod Nano for DSS only to literally throw it away Blush.

DH fished it out the wheely bin thank god. DSS lost it a month later Hmm

DH and I signed a £10k contract for double glazing that we quickly realised we didn’t need. When we tried to cancel we were told due to legal loophole it was impossible to cancel fucking bespoke shit. Have got solicitor involved - don’t know what will happen in the end yet! They are claiming they manufactured £3.5k of windows in one weekend. Bastards.

minipie · 16/01/2019 00:18

Wall tiles that don’t go with the floor tiles

And we paid for the tiler to do the tiling twice as realised too late the tile shop had sent the wrong colour

Except when he re tiled in the “right” colour it still looked crap

(Fab neat tiling though. poor chap)

RomanticFatigue · 16/01/2019 00:29

Listening to exH when he said the lease extension on the flat I was buying him out of would cost £7k. Instead of getting an independent valuation I took him at his word and it cost £18k. He also overvalued the buy out cost of the flat. Bastard.

French grey paint on the window frames. Came home at the end of the day by which time the painter had done one whole side of the house. Hated it. Cost an extra thousand to re-do them in white because the undercoat had to be redone too.

follygirl · 16/01/2019 09:01

We had a big semi circular bay window (3m wide) in our lounge so I had a sofa made to measure, it was about £5k. However although it looked fab it's not very comfortable lying on a semi circular sofa.
We're having our house extended and I've made sure that the window is normal so that we can have an l-shaped sofa.
The sofa was only 4 years old and I had to give it away.

I spent $1200 on a last minute ticket to a game at the World Cup in summer (the day before the match) on a reselling website. Description was in French.

Only after I bought it did I google and find out that it was a wheelchair access ticket and if I couldn’t prove my wheelchair use they would deny me entry. Tried to sell it on. Couldn’t. Cos everyone else clearly googled first.

Had to buy another ticket. Same price.

And we fucking lost.

Bathbombs · 16/01/2019 09:25

Mard-i would have bought a fold up wheelchair from Argos! It’s not like you were denying someone in need of the place as otherwise you’d have had a buyer!

RunSweatLaughAndLatte · 16/01/2019 11:06

I hate our sofa as the fabric has loads of bobbles on it and it looks hideous and feels like when you sit on something covered in biscuit crumbs
