Do phones not ring at all once they have been off a long time

Do you mean do phone numbers get deactivated? They do after a certain while.

I mean does the network stop looking to connect a call and just go straight to voicemail? Or will the phone still ring at least once.

If a phone is switched off it will not ring... straight to answer phone

If the phone is on but the call is rejected it will ring at least once before going to answer phone

Another reason it may ring once and then go to answerphone is if it is in a poor signal area, if it loses signal it may go to answerphone... but if it rings it is switched on.

Obvs if no answerphone facility you'll get the "user not available " message instead.

I think it rings once and goes to voicemail when you'd been blocked?
