Mums i had my sweep this morning for DS2, how long does labor start after sweep. I had it done for DS1 but ended up being induced the following morning. I was hoping things will be better with DS2 and enjoy normal labor without induction. However, i. Experiencing mild contractions/lower abdominal pains..i keep praying and hoping they lead to labor. Im so anxious and cannot wait for his arrival.

Just for feedback. So since i had the sweep yesterday at 9am...i was in pain for the better part of the night. This morning i noticed i was loosing my plug in small bits and still feeling mild contractions. im thinking the possibility of me delivering today or tomorrow was possible. However, since i was due for induction today, im hoping it will speed up the process.

Mine started 3 hours after a sweep, I was 5 days overdue with baby number 2.

I have had sweeps and they didn’t work. I am convinced that if you go into labour after a sweep it’s a coincidence and you would have done so anyway! Smile

I had very mild contractions 30 minutes after my sweep with DD which lasted for 2 days and then on day 3 is when they increased and I went into active labour. It was hell!

SoyDora · 03/01/2019 21:02

That’s the thing isn’t it LeSquigh? When people say theirs worked I always think ‘well you were due/overdue anyway, and therefore fairly likely to go into labour regardless, so how do you know?’.
Anyway I had my second sweep today at 41 weeks. Still no signs!

AragonsGirl · 03/01/2019 21:05

2 sweeps did nothing with my first. Had a sweep at 39 weeks with my second at 2pm and I gave birth (rather quickly and unexpectedly at home!) at 2am!

I agree, and I think much the same about induction.

Good luck OP!

I had a sweep at 40+10 at 11am. Was apparently already 2cm and cervix was ‘ripe’. Barely felt a thing, no pain.

Went for a long walk, waters went at 7pm, baby born at 10.30pm.

Good luck!
