Weirdest thing ever just happened.

I was fast asleep and then woke up as I heard weird noises- not really obvious foot steps but like someone was walking around. We are a co sleeping family so my dh and ds are in bed with me sleeping, and the cat is at the very end of the bed next to my foot. I’m laying on my back with baby tucked under my arm and suddenly I felt a huge pressure as if someone was on top of me holding me down, crushing my chest and I couldn’t move at all. I panicked a little bit and tried to cry out to dh but I couldn’t make a sound 🤷‍♀️ I’ve been really quite poorly today with a fever so I don’t know if it’s that or if I was still asleep but it’s proper freaked me out! Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

I think it's sleep paralysis

You poor thing Flowers

Sounds like sleep paralysis probably brought on by your fever, can also cause hallucinations. I remember getting them as a child when I'll, it can be quite scary.

Doyoulikebrocoli · 15/12/2018 02:12

Like PP have said, definitely sounds like sleep paralysis. Can cause a strong sense of fear and cause hallucinations. Not a nice experience. Flowers

Definitely sleep paralysis. It can be very scary but please don't worry. It is very common and with you being out of sorts not unusual.

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 15/12/2018 02:33

Yeah sleep paralysis. I get it frequently. It's really unpleasant

treaclesoda · 15/12/2018 02:39

I've had this before and it was terrifying. But I believe it's quite common.

No less frightening for that though...

Sleep paralysis is an absolute bitch!

Poor you! Hope you’re sleeping ❤️

Thank you everyone, just looked it up and it definitely sounds like it! Hope that doesn't happen again Confused
