Alternatives to Quality Street and Roses etc

Right. I am sick of the piss poor disappointment that is Cadbury’s Roses. A massive tin of these used to be our festive favourites until somewhere between 5-10 years ago when the ingredients changed and they became inedible.

I still like Quality Street because they Tate like they always did (which isn’t dating much as they were never that great) but they get a bit dull. Celebrations are ‘ok’ but just don’t say Christmas like the others do, and don’t speak to me of the abomination that is Heroes.

So...are any of the own brand equivalents any good? I seem to remember trying that waitrose one’s a couple of years ago and they were ok.

(And before the chocolate snobs descend and start saying that they will only eat the finest Peruvian 80% cocoa chocolate, I am blatantly talking about big cheap tins/boxes of cheap and cheerful chocolates here. Chocolate snobbery absolutely has a place - I like some lovely quality chocolate myself sometimes, but this is not the thread for it).

Morrisons mega mix - one kilo tub for three quid!

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 14/12/2018 20:07

I personally like Lindor. You can get an packed of assorted flavours if you like to have different ones.

JasperRising · 14/12/2018 20:25

You see I love Lindor (black wrappers ones all the way) but bulk slightly at the price - definitely keep an eye out for when they are on offer though!

Another vote for morrisons here!

ilovepixie · 14/12/2018 20:29

Sainsburys ones are lovely

TheLurkingOne · 14/12/2018 20:46

I have been craving the m&s "big selection " comes in a tin, shiny colourful wrappers, toffees, truffles, orange coffee and strawberry creams; lovely silky chocolate.

Got my tin today, it's really not going to last the week. The best chocolates ever!

TwistedChristmas · 14/12/2018 22:46

I need to go to M&S......

confusednorthner · 14/12/2018 22:49

Morrison's were a big let down for me last year, think I'll get Sainsbury's and M&S to try this year

SprusselBrout · 14/12/2018 22:50

Aldi strawberry etc creams are delicious. Vegan too Grin

jacqattacq · 14/12/2018 23:20

Oh my God I am going to buy so many chocolates on the back of these responses.

Lindor are gorgeous.

MayFayner · 14/12/2018 23:49

I was pondering this exact question this morning!

Unfortunately there is neither Sainsbury’s nor Morrison’s where I am. I’ll give the M&S ones a go though.

LutherRalph1 · 15/12/2018 07:58

Yes OP, but all in the name of research

StepMug · 15/12/2018 08:01

Morrison’s Megamix were a hit here too. Everyone else must have caught on because I haven’t managed to find any since!

LutherRalph1 · 15/12/2018 11:50

The morrisons Twix replica is nice and I'm making a good dent in the coconut ones

PinMoo · 15/12/2018 11:54

I like heroes

aintnopartylikeansclubparty · 15/12/2018 12:30

Is Black Magic popular in the UK anymore? Can't get it in Australia anymore. Bloody delicious.

Orangecake123 · 15/12/2018 13:13

The Celebrations tub.
