My sister has been caught again by our Dad and now she's dragging me into it!

My parents pick up my niece from school so my sister sees them more than I do. It's that time of year again and our Dad has said to her "get your Mother something from me for Christmas and I'll give you the money".

He will but we haven't a flaming clue what to get her ourselves without our Dad passing the buck again. Now my sister has text me and we need help.

Our DM has no hobbies. They don't go out dining or doing anything together. DM can't wear perfume, doesn't wear jewellery except a wedding ring and a necklace. Doesn't wear makeup. They are in their late 70's, still active. She has a kindle and mobile phone. Any ideas anyone, please?

I have a heated throw too, love it. Dark grey fur from John Lewis.

Talking of heated things, we've bought dm a heated gillet, as she always says she's cold when she's outside...

@LoudestRoar please tell us more...I didn’t even know such a thing existed.

My DM gets a really nice bouquet for birthday and Christmas now. She loves flowers, not something one usually buys for oneself and it shows thought when there's nothing she wants.

We use Appleyard (good discount code) and Bloom & Wild.

@doctorboo it's this one. Bit expensive, but it's between a few of us.

@LoudestRour Thank you! I think both my mum and MIL would love it, both have circulation issues and find winter difficult. This years gifts have already been ordered but I’ll keep it in mind for next year.

Did he text the request? I’d be tempted to print it out and put it in a nice frame 😂

Tickets to a show for her and a friend
Cinema pass
Dancing lessons
Tea for two at a local tea shop

Thank you to everyone for replying with helpful suggestions, you've given me/us a few excellent ideas.

However I would like to advise some posters that this isn't in AIBU but chat. I'm quite aware my Dad is an adult and my parents have been married over 50 years so if you don't have anything constructive to say then you shouldn't have bothered replying.

If you're looking for something original and unique, there's someone on mumsnet who makes artisanal scented candles with two different colours of wax. She can carve a design in the outer layer so the inner colour shows through. She is currently making weirwood trees in red and white, but might be open to commissions if you want something else.
