Can you use ibruprofen gel on your chests?

My teen is in lots of pain with this.

Anyone?

I was told by my rheumatologist that it is safe to use pain-relieving gels including ibuprofen and also voltarol

He also said that I could use a tens machine. I was concerned that it might affect my heart but he insisted it was safe to use. This was 3 weeks ago

Have they taken oral ibuprofen? It's not recommended to use ibuprofen gel if you have already taken it orally.

LizzieBennettDarcy · 27/11/2018 21:55

Yes, just be gentle rubbing it on! My GP gave me this during my last flare up but it was really hard to rub in effectively with the pain it created so I went back to the tablet form.

Just don't use both tablets and gel together - it's one or the other.

I personally find Naproxen a lot more effective, and a hot water bottle helps enormously too.

They haven't mastered the art of taking tablets as they have sensory issues so they are taking ibruprofen in liquid form.

Will be sure that they don't have the gel and the liquid form at the same time.

I do hot water bottles at home but it's school that I am trying to help them with.
