Do you think anyone would notice if you left Mumsnet?

Back in the day, you’d see the same names over & over again & you would literally notice if someone hadnt posted for a just a few days.
Is Mumsnet just too big now to ‘miss’ anyone?

I popped up on one of those “whatever happened to” posts, but I name change all the time now since Jeffery and since someone spotted me in real life (and went through all my back posts to tell me what she had found about me Angry) I miss the olden days though!

Cuzcothellama · 25/11/2018 11:07

No one would miss me. There are a couple of names I see quite a bit, although i don't tend to look at user names, so it would take me a while to notice someone had gone. However, i just assume people NC a lot!

WerewolfNumber1 · 25/11/2018 11:08

My husband would notice because he’s hear fewer sentences starting “this woman on mumsnet...”

I do miss the old days where people kept the same name. I hardly know who anyone is now.

Rockbird · 25/11/2018 11:08

Not a chance. I tell myself it's because I name change fairly often but actually it's because most people don't even notice me even though I've been here for 12 years! Grin

No pity party required! Grin

formerbabe · 25/11/2018 11:08

Oh good question...I have no idea !

Davespecifico · 25/11/2018 11:09

I've been here since 2007ish but noone would know. You wouldn't really be known now, its less of a clique.
In the olden days, you were known if you were regular, part of particular conversations, and in some cases if you were controversial.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/11/2018 11:10

Nope. I've had a few quite long breaks from MN and no sign anyone noticed I was gone.
I might have another break soon.

ajandjjmum · 25/11/2018 11:12

No - but that's the beauty of MN.

BoldComicSans · 25/11/2018 11:12

Nah, probably not. But then I'm not exactly a frequent poster.

HammerHorror · 25/11/2018 11:13

Not at all... no one notices when I post so I doubt they'll notice if I stopped.

*slopes off to the well of self pity.

starfishmummy · 25/11/2018 11:13

You're right Surfjet. Occasionally now Ok see a name Pi recognise from the "old days" but not often.

There used to be threads that would be in some sort of weird cliquey "codes" and I thought the other day that they have vanished - at least from active threads.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/11/2018 11:13

I don't understand how you'd notice anyone had gone though. I mean you might notice that you hadn't seen them post for a while, but I'd just think they'd either name changed or were just not on the same threads as me. Not every poster is on every thread, are they.

starfishmummy · 25/11/2018 11:14

Sorry surferjet

MirandaWest · 25/11/2018 11:14

Doubt anyone would notice (except DH who says he’d notice Grin)

No. Thankfully.

NicePieceOfPlaid · 25/11/2018 11:15

Doubt it, I name change every couple of months.

AlienBotanist · 25/11/2018 11:15

Aw, I recognise you surferjet, but there are far too many posters on here now to notice people going MIA- I just assume I haven't been in the threads they've been on.

SandysMam · 25/11/2018 11:17

Definitely not. I either kill threads or no responds anyway!!

Batteriesallgone · 25/11/2018 11:17

No. Although I did huff off a thread recently (which I was sad about as it was a good thread) and I wondered if anyone noticed lol. One of those where my argument with someone turned into a derail so I had no choice but to leave as not fair to ruin someone else’s thread.

But someone has to be pretty amazing to make an impact. I remember Buffy, she was wonderful and if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have done a lot of the self healing I have over my abusive past. But as I recall she was a feminist lecturer, very very intelligent.

I’m just a run of mill SAHM normie so I doubt anyone notices me.

SandysMam · 25/11/2018 11:17

I wouldn’t notice if anyone left now!

Hushnownobodycares · 25/11/2018 11:18

No. Which having posted on a claustrophobic private forum until I saw the light is just the way I like it.

HerculesTheBercules · 25/11/2018 11:19

I name change a lot, so for that reason if no other I would not be missed.

However, I reckon I would not be missed on here anyway.

paxillin · 25/11/2018 11:25

I noticed a few missing, both those I really like and those who are no loss. But certainly not after just a few days.
