Do you think anyone would notice if you left Mumsnet?

Back in the day, you’d see the same names over & over again & you would literally notice if someone hadnt posted for a just a few days.
Is Mumsnet just too big now to ‘miss’ anyone?

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/11/2018 15:47

Nope, I'd imagine not. I'm a bit of a thread killer. This has been my user name for 4 years. I've been here for 8 in total.

ChristmasSprite · 25/11/2018 15:55

I do recognise some posters among the threads, that have not nc in many years, many years!,

Personally I do miss some that I do not see around anymore.

Ladymacmuff · 25/11/2018 21:53

I hope not! I name change but I have been here for 13 years or so on and off. More on now I have the phone appGrin

No, and that’s how I like it. I name change whenever I remember to.

Foslady · 25/11/2018 21:58

Not st all - I know I’m as dull as dishwater!

SpeedofaSloth · 25/11/2018 22:00

What WerewolfNumber1 said.

I'm mostly a lurker, so I'm sure no-one would miss me.

nottakenpersonally · 25/11/2018 22:04

No, but there are a good few names here I recognise.

LEMtheoriginal · 25/11/2018 22:13

Ive been her for donkeys years but no one would realise ive gone. Maybe a few years ago when i posted regularly on a specific long running thread.

But now im sort of popping in and out.

If im honest i respond to posts rather than posters. I do remember certain names and now wondering how they are but noticing they have gone? Not really

Life0fBrian · 25/11/2018 22:17

Nope! I NC a lot though as I’ve been quite personal on some threads and it could be traced back by someone in RL if anyone was bored enough to do that!

I’ve been on here years and recognise many of the names listed, but maybe they’ve NC’d and are still here.

Pinkyyy · 25/11/2018 22:19

I often see people referencing the 'old days' and it does appear that MN used to be a very different place. I haven't been around all that long and can't say I'd notice people leaving

Greensleeves · 25/11/2018 22:22

I think the days of threads asking "where's so-and-so, haven't seen her for a while?" are past; it's too big now. I dont notice people have gone, but sometimes I notice someone has come back, iyswim, which is always nice. Similarly I've had a few long breaks, and nobody notices I've gone, but when I've come back Ive had the odd "Oh, hi GS, haven't seen you for a while" which is also nice.

it is very different now it's so huge. But still great.

Blessthekids · 25/11/2018 22:22

pretty sure no one would notice but it is a pretty big place now and I do nc every now and again. I recognise certain names though but am not on enough to notice if they never posted again!

Bouchie · 25/11/2018 22:25

personally I would worry if people recognised me as it would mean that I spent far too long on here. Nowadays I change names every few weeks anyway.

MarthasGinYard · 25/11/2018 22:30

Nah

Barely recognise any names myself these days.

Searched an old thread recently and recognised most of the posters on it.

Felt slightly nostalgic

ChristmasSprite · 25/11/2018 22:33

I recognise you LEM from an old longrunning thread, but then I've nc a lot since then so doubt you would recognise my new look

gunge · 25/11/2018 22:38

It has changed. Mumsnet used to have a problem with bullying I believe. I felt there was a group of regulars who just came on here to bully others.
It's a much nicer place now.

Cailleach · 25/11/2018 22:46

No.

No, I’m not prolific or good at arguing in writing.

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 25/11/2018 22:54

No. I nc regularly but even if I didn't I don't post often enough and controversially enough to be remembered.

HateIsNotGood · 25/11/2018 22:54

Nope. The only thing I notice is the 'latest' prolific posters, those 'in favour, aka MN Royalty - and they all piss me off by their very being, right or not.

I only stumbled across MN 10+yrs ago searching for SEN advice - it's now my equivalent of a 'chat mag' without spending any £s or cutting any trees.

I do think PPs have grown (gotten) a bit more 'wimpy' over the years.

I also notice that many OPs reflect the recent changes re working and childcare and childcare 'entitlements' that haven't been around long enough to be completely embedded.

It might be fun to play 'guess the name change' or similar. I doubt anyone would link me.

ShatnersBassoon · 25/11/2018 23:03

No. I'm useless and unhelpful, I'm just here to entertain myself.

thighofrelief · 25/11/2018 23:07

I was on about 8 years ago but no one liked me and got banned. Been back a few months now and it's a much nicer place!

Vinorosso74 · 25/11/2018 23:08

Nope.
I spend a lot of time on The Litter Tray so recognise a lot of the posters on there (and their cats!) so would notice if they vanished.
