Do you think anyone would notice if you left Mumsnet?

Back in the day, you’d see the same names over & over again & you would literally notice if someone hadnt posted for a just a few days.
Is Mumsnet just too big now to ‘miss’ anyone?

I noticed when ArtandCo stopped posting (I think she was banned??). There is also a poster who left for ages and then returned under a different username and I think I recognise them- they give lots of pretty personal detail. I recognise lots of names but wouldn't notice if they didn't post I don't think! No one would miss me!

RJnomore1 · 25/11/2018 12:00

No

I don't post very much these days though

Sausagefingers9 · 25/11/2018 12:01

How would you know if anyone noticed you’d gone if you weren’t here to see though?

No absolutely not. 😂😂😂

I've been on MN for over 13 years with various name changes but even without one I don't think I'd be sorely missed.

I do miss TalcandTurnips though....Wine

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/11/2018 12:02

Also recognise Errol the dragon and
RJnomore1

ZaZathecat · 25/11/2018 12:02

I wouldn't dare leave for fear of a mass outpouring of grief to rival the People's Princess.

Goldenbug · 25/11/2018 12:03

In the more specialist boards I'm sure they would. On chat and AIBU, no.

Threewheeler1 · 25/11/2018 12:07

No, I don't think anyone would notice. I notice others though and sometimes wonder where they've got to if I haven't seen anything from them for a while.
But I suppose that's what's nice about it, like an invisibility cloak.
But SandysMam, I think I might be threadkilleriest thread killer of all the thread killers Grin

Polkasq · 25/11/2018 12:11

No, and that's fine with me.

thighofrelief · 25/11/2018 12:13

No one would bat an eye if i left. I've decided not to NC anymore though, I'd prefer to build some familiarity and don't feel that bad about being outed. I mean, I'm hardly Ronnie Biggs. More Ronnie Corbett. I do recognise names.

Threewheeler1 · 25/11/2018 12:17

thighofrelief
If you're Ronnie Corbett, I'm Ronnie Pickering Grin

yogafailure · 25/11/2018 12:20

Nope - I name change every few weeks nowadays so no one shouid have a clue/care who I am 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrsChollySawcutt · 25/11/2018 12:24

God I hope not. I'm not sad enough to need an internet followjng.

MistressDeeCee · 25/11/2018 12:25

No, why would they? I recognise 3 or so long-term names but I don't notice how often they're around. Or not. It's a big forum with loads of members so it's hard to retain usernames

thighofrelief · 25/11/2018 12:31

Threewheeler if you're Ronnie Pickering I'm Ronnie McDonald Wink

bloodyhellimtired · 25/11/2018 12:31

I keep wondering where expatinscotland has gone

birdsdestiny · 25/11/2018 12:33

No but that's not the case for everyone. I notice that Maryz and Thebewilderness aren't here.

Aragog · 25/11/2018 12:36

No. I've been online here for 15 years. Recently had a complete name change and dereg my old one. Can't say anyone's noticed I wasn't there.

Aragog · 25/11/2018 12:37

It doesn't bother btw. I dereg with my long standing name for a reason father all.

thighofrelief · 25/11/2018 12:37

There's people i really like and wonder where they are, but who knows maybe they are busy on other threads or decorating their lounge? Be sad if they had NC and therefore"lost" forever.

treaclesoda · 25/11/2018 12:38

No, I don't think people would notice, and that's fine with me. Probably preferable actually.

cricketmum84 · 25/11/2018 12:39

@WerewolfNumber1 haha same here!! My husband would be the only person to realise. Most of our evening conversations started with "you won't believe what I read on mumsnet today..."

Nope, and that's the way I like it -- I've been on here for almost eight years, but I namechange every week or two (this is a fresh new Sunday morning name) so that no one who recognises me from something identifying can link it to a whole load of other identifying information.

I do recognise a few longtstanding names on this thread, but generally I only tend to remember usernames if the poster says something particularly brilliant and pithy, or stupid past belief. Or if they have a really good username -- like SnipSnipMisterBurgess or janejeffer to name two that come to mind.

DappledThings · 25/11/2018 12:50

No. But I would miss Anyfucker and BetrandRussell
