Need a hand hold - complications after hip replacement.

FIL has just had hip replacement surgery and has developed a blood clot on his lung. I don't know how bad it is, but MIL and SIL are with him now and DH is going up too. I'm scared it's more serious than DH is letting on (he tends to downplay this sort of thing) and that we might lose FIL. Any reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

Well as it’s been diagnosed I would imagine he has been prescribed an anti-coagulant so there’s a good chance that it will resolve.

Thanks Alexa, does it really just sort itself out once he's on anti-coagulants? If so that's a massive relief.

More than likely the anti coagulants will sort it. He'll prob have to inject heparin for a month, but tbh after surgery that makes him less mobile he might have had to do that anyway. I had to after my ankle surgery- not nice but not that bad after first few times. They'll be monitoring him closely and it is serious, but great they caught it and means far more likely he'll be fine!

At least if he was in hospital it was probably caught early?
