Doctor has prescribed me a few days worth as my back is totally screwed up and over the course of a week it’s just gotten worse to the point I can barely move.

Will it just knock me on my ass? He’s told me to take one three times a day but says I can take up to 4 at a time so surely one won’t completely knock me out?

I take morphine for another condition but that doesn’t really make me drowsy any more. DH is off work all weekend so it’s not like I have to be in charge of the kids.

For extra fun, the only difference this morning is Pain in my hips - I had terrible spd in pregnancy and it seems it’s flared that up. Fun.

Oh poor you.
Can you get a physio appointment? Or have you already seen one? GPs are good at dispensing drugs but you may get more info and help from a physio.

Ask for methocarbamol I've had that for my back when it goes into spasms (2 herniated disks) non addictive so can be taken for longer. It really does help.

I’ve had a couple of courses of physio in the past and use the stretches, I’ve been doing Pilates and yoga - my back hurts all the time but it’s mostly manageable so I haven’t been back to my doctor about it for 18 months when they first referred me for physio. The problem now is that it’s so painful to move and everything is so clamped down I can’t even do the stretches. I’m hoping a few days of this will help relax things enough that I can start getting mobile again. Unfortunately the ligaments in my pelvis and one knee stretched badly when I was pregnant with the twins and it seems those have relaxed far more easily than the ones in my back - didn’t think about that.

Going to see my regular GP next week to ask about further tests for my back. I’ve recently found out that my oestrogen and calcium levels are low so I’m concerned about my bones (a long time ago I was on meds that can affect bone density) and I’ve had a big numb patch across my back for two years now which doesn’t seem normal.

Was just hoping this would give me some short term relief from the worst of it. Will see how it goes today - maybe it will work better if I take it regularly today and tomorrow.

Did you take 4mg this morning?

People have had good results from cbd cream it’s not cannibis the main thing in cannibis as been taken out

It works for my sister who’s also on morphine she had knee replacement that wasn’t 100% successful and oesto arthritis she put a small amount on and rubs it in. She’s able to get some sleep at night

Can you get hold of a tens machine? I found that very effective when I had back issues...

SinkGirl · 10/11/2018 18:09

I took 4mg last night - no effect apart from making my hips worse.
Took 6mg this morning - nothing, so took an extra one (as he said I could take a maximum of 4 tablets 3x day). I can’t say it’s helped much but I have had a proper lie down all day which has probably helped more. Took two more at lunch time and will take a couple before bed and then I think I won’t bother - not really making much difference. Was hoping it might build up in my system if I take it regularly. Have no desire to be out of it, jusy want my muscles to relax a bit so I can move.

TENS helps with period pain or lower back pain but ive had no joy with the upper back pain sadly. Going to try and get some stretches going tomorrow, hopefully after the rest and meds today it will be doable.

I take it at bedtime to help me sleep ( anxiety). I need at least 6 mg for a real effect.
