Asked DH to get me crumpets. He got me crumpets. I didn't want crumpets.

I can't for the life of me think what they are called. Not quite pancakes, not quite crepes, and not quite crumpets either. Flat, round baked good with lots of airy holes in it.

Have my first LTB for getting you what you asked for when it was not at all what you actually wanted.

I cannot think what these flat holey things might be. Scotch pancakes, pikelets and English muffins all come to mind. But don’t have holes of the type you are talking about.

I’d love you know when you have remembered.

Icannystandit · 04/11/2018 18:02

What we used to call a crumpet in Scotland is kind of a flat large pancake and one side is full of holes. I made some by mistake when doing normal scotch pancakes recently so it's along those lines

socktastic · 04/11/2018 18:03

Drop scone pancakes? Thicker and fluffed than your average pancake. (And way better)

8DaysAWeek · 04/11/2018 18:04

Oh, God. I hope you're not all waiting for the big reveal...

It was these. So, just pancakes really Blush. I was sure they were called something different!

Gotta be piklets. Basically flat crumpets but much better.

donkeysandzebras · 04/11/2018 18:06

This reminds me of the cutted up pear thread years ago. OP were you able to contain your disappointment or did you lie on the floor & scream?!

8DaysAWeek · 04/11/2018 18:06

I was tempted to say yes, pikelets, to save embarrassment as I think they fitted the brief best.

Almost LTB after he kept telling me I just wanted pancakes.

Holding my hands up to this one!
