Did you get the runs before labour?

And if so, how long before things kicked off with feeling contractions etc?

40+6 so wouldn't be unlikely... Eek!

GOD yes. It was about another 2 days before things kicked off proper, though.

nbee84 · 02/11/2018 23:49

Yes, was up about 4am with the runs. Contractions started about 5am. Baby arrived at 7am.

Was 41 +5

Not the runs exactly but certainly a constant need to poo.

Ended up either having quite painful contractions or being sat on the loo evacuating in a rather extreme way. Eventually it stopped. Then i had the rest of labour. Does at least mean there was no poo on the birth pool, because i was empty like an echoing hall.

Yep, contractions started a few minutes later... good luck!

pandarific · 02/11/2018 23:51

See I've had them since about 11am which has been loads of fun) and no other symptoms apart from feeling a bit nauseous, which makes me think it's not it...

I wish I had. Then maybe could have avoided doing it in the pool 🤢🤢🤢

Vinorosso74 · 03/11/2018 00:47

Not the runs but I couldn't stop pooing! It was overnight on a hospital ward and I kept varying which loo I used to vary the walk back. I'd been admitted as my waters had broken the day before so needed antibiotic every 4 hours until I could go to labour ward. Not the most pleasant night.

Fevertree · 03/11/2018 00:49

Yep I did this morning and gave birth at 4.30 pm

Frankswife87 · 03/11/2018 01:08

Oh yes I got the trots! And vomited quite a bit, it happens a few hours before delivery 😬

NewBabyNoName · 03/11/2018 01:14

@ShoutyMcShoutFace ditto there was definite sieve action

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 03/11/2018 01:20

Yes.... Massive poo about 24 hours before birth.

CakeNinja · 03/11/2018 01:25

Oh yes, every time in the day or two leading up to labour. I thought of it as natures way of putting less obstacles in the way of delivering a baby Grin
Congrats Fevertree!

Nothing else today apart from vague grumbly back/period pain this am. 41 weeks today, and though I've been all home birth, Ina May Gaskin, hypnobirthing up until now I am thoroughly fed up and I can see how appealing it would be to just have someone whip him out easily so I could just NOT BE BLOODY PREGNANT ANY MORE.

I don't really want that. But I honestly feel like it's never going to happen on its own - no show, no braxton hicks, de nada.

Sweep booked for Monday which I'm nervous about, seeing as the last smear test I had was a car crash. (First plastic thing they use to hold you open wasn't long enough so after fiddling for ages she had to go and get another one. Second one I promptly snapped, scaring the shit out of myself and nurse in the process with the noise, third time I had to insert it myself because by this point my poor foof was in defence mode and Not Having It.)

I don't know if I want a sweep! And I definitely definitely don't want to be induced. Arrrrgh come out baby please come out.
