When does being a mum become 'normal' ?

I'm still less than 2 weeks PP so it's early days still, but I was wondering when this weird 'oh my god I'm a mum now' feeling (that I have every morning) will wear off?

I feel a bit weird and overwhelmed by it all. Like I'm living in a dream... like it isn't real.

I love him so much. When will it become 'normal'?

I can't help you but I'm so glad someone else feels the same! I feel like I'm on the world's weirdest but nicest holiday. DD will be 2 weeks tomorrow.

I went out without her today and was suddenly conscious of being even more careful about e.g. crossing the road than when I was pregnant. Because what would happen to her if something happened to me!? (Never mind that she was safely at home with her wonderful dad...)

I too wonder when it will all be normal life

4 with my eldest and then things became gradually easier with the three years old too. Two under two was an odd choice though.

I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same and didn't like it! It does settle down and becomes your new 'normal' after a while. I found once I started getting out and about that helped and also (although its lovely to have visitors) once all the novelty wore off of the 'new baby' and I could find my own new routine that helped too. Mine's 11 now and that brings with it a whole new learning curve so you are never fully 'normal' again but you do get used to it!
