I hate mobile phones, and only recently upgraded from a nokia to a refurb iphone 4.

Anyway, DD started year 7 in September, and I promised her her first phone at half term.

I bought a refurb iphone 5s during half term - with a case.

We haven't even got to the end of the first week back and the phone is broken, arrgggg

Then she gets a basic phone until she can learn to look after it.

Not the phones fault!

yep. tough luck!

she can now save up to get it fixed, then have it back. might take better care of it then...

Broken? How?

upsideup · 31/10/2018 20:42

How? 11 year old dd has has her iphone for almost a year and takes it with her whenever she leaves the house, she just looks after it.
If it gets broken (by her) then she will get a basic phone and have to save if she wants a better one.

If it just stopped working then whoever you bought it off should replace it

Witchend · 31/10/2018 21:41

Really?

I've 3 DC from 18yo downwards who got phones at 9/10yo.
We've had one smashed screen in that time and no other breakages. And the smashed screen was due to her disability.
Either she's unlucky or careless.

theworldistoosmall · 31/10/2018 21:48

Is it the phones fault, in other words, it's stopped working or a glitch of some type?
Or is it carelessness?

Big difference

safariboot · 31/10/2018 21:50

Shit happens. Clearly her replacement phone will have to be a lot cheaper.

safariboot · 31/10/2018 21:52

(I'm assuming broken as in dropped. I fumble my phone all the time and earlier this year got unlucky and cracked the screen. I just put a glass protector over it for safety, can't afford a replacement.)
