Anyone else think it's shocking telly? I mean, I'm not bashing the cause for one minute but the actual programme- the presenting this year is dreadful! It's like they're badly lacking a grown up (davina, dermot etc) to take charge. Alan Carr is dreadful!!

I disagree, lots of heartbreaking moments & Alan Carr is doing a good job fund raising.I’ve donated & hope lots of mumsnetters will do the same.

eloliphant · 26/10/2018 23:29

I agree OP

TryItAndDieFatLass · 26/10/2018 23:42

I turned it over after watching the dreadful 'science' bits from Chris O'Dowd and some other person. The films were very sad and I still donated but as for entertainment I thought it was apalling

I don’t watch it, i saw it the first year and found it really emotionally distressing (I’m quite uncomfortable with the marketing aspect of it). I don’t donate to CRUK though and don’t plan to.

mydogishot · 26/10/2018 23:56

Studio stuff is awful.
Adam hills is rubbish.

Katherine Ryan is obviously blackmailing someone for her career.

Chris o'dowd has alcohol issues, I think.
Maya Jama is horrendous. Smarmy, arrogant and just seems nasty.

Bring back Davina
Gaby roslin too

ThunderInMyHeart · 27/10/2018 00:02

@letsgetreadytorumba - genuine q, not snarky: why not CRUK?

Maya Jama seemed to be a pigeon; knees together in an awkward fashion.

mydogishot · 27/10/2018 00:04

@ThunderInMyHeart

It's either the shoes are hurting her or they are to high and she towers over everyone so she's trying not to crouch!

PointlessUsername · 27/10/2018 00:06

Maya Jamais such a rubbish presenter half of what she says doesn't make sense

Letsgetreadytorumba · 27/10/2018 00:13

I dislike their marketing campaigns and the fact that the rarer/more progressed cancers don’t get a look in.

However, they used this in a campaign during 2013 and when challenged (by a lot of people, it was an incredibly tone deaf quotation for them to use) said they felt it was justified. For me it was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Crikey! That IS tone deaf!

madroid · 27/10/2018 00:21

What they seem to forget is that for so many of us those sad stories are our own. Ones which we try hard to not think about.

I think the whole thing is crass and insensitive. I'd rather pay more in taxes and have properly funded research in the NHS and universities.

Letsgetreadytorumba · 27/10/2018 00:28

I totally agree madroid - I couldn’t quite articulate what I dislike about SU2C but that’s it in a nutshell.

I was diagnosed at 21, I lost count of how many young people I was in hospital with died.
