Help - which dress

Hi,

I'm going to an evening reception tomorrow night and I just don't know what to wear.

Which do you think looks best out of these?

(Sorry for the mess in the pics my only full mirror is in a room we're doing up so everything is everywhere)

The first one is by far the nicest on you.
Go and enjoy.

Llongyfarchiadau · 26/10/2018 12:32

I think that the first one looks best on you. However, if the second one were smaller, it would have been my first choice.

Have a lovely time.

meepmoop · 26/10/2018 12:51

I think I'll probably wear the first one.

What shoes do you think I should wear with it?

I can't do heels and usually wear
Sandals

the blue one in the second pics is much better!

OP, you need to treat yourself to a shopping trip after this! Get a personal shopper at John Lewis or something. It's free and they will run around the store for you.

Sandals work for evening (Though a little chilly).

How formal is it?

meepmoop · 26/10/2018 18:37

Not overly formal it's in a barn conversion and it's pizza for the evening. They had afternoon tea for the breakfast so very laid back.

I only have tan sandals so have ordered some black ones to tie in with the belt. Hopefully they'll arrive in time.

I like the blue one but it's very cheap looking in real life, it only cost me £10 new

I think my problem is my back is very broad so while I'm a size 10 everywhere else I often can't do the zips up so have to get a 12. Nothing ever really looks like it fits me

I forgot to say the first dress isn't done all the way up as I couldn't reach so is more fitted then it looks in the photo

I adore the second pic from the second post! Originally thought 1 from the first post.

Oh the second lot are much better, the second in the second lot is the best.

HouseOnTheLake · 26/10/2018 19:26

I agree with Bundy re first dresses. The blue one from the second pics looks great on you.

meepmoop · 26/10/2018 19:34

I don't think I can wear the blue one I don't have any shoes or bag to go with it. I'm not very good at dressing up.

Luckily the next wedding I'm invited to I'm bridesmaid so don't have to think about it

1 definitely

BundyLancroft · 26/10/2018 20:41

wedding? You didn't say!!

If it's in a barn then I expect it's not overly formal as you say. Tan or black sandals would go with the blue dress though I would veer to black every time. It goes with everything. Match shoes and bag together, and the dress can happily contrast.

Have a lovely time, OP!

meepmoop · 26/10/2018 21:13

Ah thought I did, but looking back I just said evening reception oops

I thought you were weren't meant to match blue and black? Not that I really follow any rules
