DS is going to have his 18th Birthday party for friends at home.

Either myself or DH will be in the house but upstairs out of the way.

Need guidance from those that have experienced this recently Smile

We had my son's 18th at home this year and were pleasantly surprised at how much they'd matured from age 16/17 parties. We hired some lights and they sorted/bluetoothed music hooked up to our speakers.

We didn't provide food but brought out cake (and I think lots of packets of crisps!) which were much appreciated.

We pretty much left them to it but they knew we were there - knew most of them well anyway. I think there were about 15-20 so not a massive party but it was perfect.

Good luck!

Oh and we had Buck's Fizz in plastic glasses (and stashed away emergency beers) but they mostly brought their own alcohol which worked well.

Plastic cups. Mixers. Crisps nuts cocktail sausages etc Sorted their own music. No entertainment but I decorated with balloons that had lights inside. And I made a cake. And I'm the sad mother who rushes downstairs to dance to Mr Brightside but they are kind enough to let me. The dog likes to join in. They went off to a club at 12.

We didn't do food, only crisp type nibbles, and regretted it. A big pot of chilli or something would have gone down well.

Other than that, I'd suggest putting out some bins or bags for the empties, as people seemed anxious to tidy up after themselves which we hadn't anticipated.

Dd came home from an 18th with a little goodie bag of bath stuff and a mini bottle of prosecco last year. Don’t rule out party bags!
