A question about Wills and appointing trustees etc

Hi

I am currently drafting my Will, and have appointed two family members to be my trustees, should I die before my youngest dc is 25.

However I didn't realise how complex being a trustee seems to be, and am wondering if I should leave them to inherit (a house, which they would then own a third of each) at 18 instead?

18 seems too young though - is 25 too old?

Also, I didn't realise how much discretion the trustees have - who is there to check that they do things which are in the interests of the trusts (is that how my children would be referred to in this context?).

Thanks - any advice gratefully received Smile.

Could you not use 21 as a middle ground?

Trustees have a lot of discretion. We have three in our wills and two of the three have to agree which stops one overruling the other too much as it’s a majority.
