What do you do all day?!

I have a 3 year old who I have one full day a week with and I’m finding it increasingly hard to fill the day!

We are up at 7ish and bed at 7ish. That’s a whole 12 hours which all the playgrounds, drawing and visits from friends can’t fill and I’m turning increasingly to TV which isn’t ideal. What does everyone else do?

I find 2 out of the house activities, 3 meals and a bath, with some general playing with toys/colouring etc in between fills 12 hours.

You borrow another pre schooler they play together whilst you get housework done...

If you only actually have her one full day a week, she’s probably desperate to spend some time just with you. If you need to do jobs as well then maybe do things like tidying up races (music playing, 3 minutes timer), get her a feather duster for helping, make the beds, hang the washing out, cook a meal such as casserole so she can put all the veg in etc. Then an activity such as park, woods, posting a letter, go on a bus or train somewhere nearby, FaceTime or Skype her grandparents, drawing/colouring.

My ds is 3 and this is basically what we do every day, with a few variations. He also loves the stories on YouTube, search for various things (eg very hungry caterpillar) and some very kind stranger will read him a story while I have a cup of tea in peace.

My motto for the toddler years: the days are long but the years are short.

At no point whatsoever did my post suggest that you neglect your child by working

It seemed rather that way
