Are you a US voter? Especially in Georgia?

It's a good idea to check whether you're still registered to vote.

Voter rolls get purged every year to keep them up to date. But it looks like recent purging has been quite... enthusiastic in a number of places.

I think you only have till TOMORROW, Tuesday 9 October to check and re-register if necessary.

If you're a voter in Georgia, you can check here: www.gregpalast.com/georgia-voter-purge-list-2018/

(Greg Palast is a long-time suffrage supporter, so I trust that site.)

More on vote-purging here:
This website will tell Georgia voters if they were purged — but they must reregister by Tuesday

More on over-enthusiastic purging in Texas:

He walked into a Houston elections office and claimed those people might be registered under incorrect addresses.

You all registered, Across?

From Across's post on the other thread:

Reminder on this thread that you can check with your local county election board. Most allow you to check your status online.

Poor Across. (Thinking of her DH's friend.)

PerkingFaintly · 08/10/2018 19:30

Gosh yes, the one whose husband insists on her having a postal vote, so he can take it from her and vote twice himself? (IIRC)

The one who is part of The Base, if I recall?

AcrossthePond55 · 08/10/2018 21:32

Yep Cozie I'm all good.

On a semi-positive note, DH and his Trumpster friend are no longer speaking. It happened after the Putin/Scrotus love fest and the resulting press conference. DH unfriended him and called him a Traitor to the Country (DH's capital letters) for still supporting Scrotus. He also (finally) has admitted what I've been telling him for years, that his friend is horribly abusive to his wife, who is my BFF. DH has danced around it and been in denial but he's now admitted that I was right all along.

Much shit has gone back and forth between the two men, but the real downside is that although BFF hasn't said anything to me, I'm afraid that she's probably getting 'pressure' from her DH to 'break up with me' (for lack of a better term). He's that type. I'm being careful to only text her during working hours so she can read, reply, delete when he's not around. She and I have agreed that our men's issues are separate from our friendship and we have agreed not to discuss. My DH absolutely agrees that their issues should have nothing to do with her and me.

It's a sad situation but she's not 'there yet' as far as leaving him. But that's a whole different kettle of fish, one more suited to another board.

Good show, Across.

PerkingFaintly · 08/10/2018 23:40

Shock Glad you're still able to be in touch with her, Across. And fingers crossed for her "getting there".

You can also use the Vote Save American tool run by Crooked Media (the pod Save America podcast guys):

votesaveamerica.com/verify

Sometimes their database may not pick registered voters up. If so, you can also find links to every state's election centre by scrolling down on this page:

www.vote.org/

Thanks, .Mousehole.

PerkingFaintly · 09/10/2018 14:09

Thanks for that, mousehole.

Vote by Mail Ballots showed up in our mailbox today!!!

cozietoesie · 10/10/2018 00:43

Huh??

cozietoesie · 10/10/2018 18:30

Sorry, Across. The significance of that is evading me..........

AcrossthePond55 · 11/10/2018 00:45

Just that, with everything else, we worried that somehow our ballots would get 'lost' in the mail or that interference/hacking would result in them not being mailed. My paranoia is showing Grin
