Ds 9 has really bad BO

How do I tackle this? He showers every other day and that’s a task and a half. He moans and whines about it. He used his dads shower gel but even after a shower he still smells sometimes. He refuses to let me in the room with him even though I have a few times lately to make sure he’s doing it properly. He is, but it still smells!

It’s his armpits and honestly it’s gross. He smells like a grown man with really bad bo. We have roll on, but it seems to be because he’s doing a lot of sports at school.

What can I use to help tackle this?

Would you say a shower in the morning or evenings are best?

As others have said he may just be standing under the water and not actively washing the smelly bits.

I think a shower in the evening is a good start so at least he goes to bed clean otherwise you're going to have whiffy PJs and bedding, especially after sports. We also found that an evening shower was less fraught than a morning one. I had more time to supervise and check on DD (although I never sent her back in, that's a good tactic, but no time for that in the mornings!).

@MinaPaws I found that shower gel just didn't clean my armpits like a bar of soap does (I.e I can still smell/feel deodorant on me after I'd washed with shower gel only ) I find that soap actually cleans sweaty bits a lot more thoroughly & removes all traces of sweat & previous deodorant applied

Yes to proper bar soap, and if you aren’t already, wash clothes in biological powder (not liquid/ tabs etc).

Make sure to wash his clothes in hot water too - cold / warm just doesn't kill the bacteria which are the source of that odour.
