Bit of a random one this! If you’re left handed, which hand do you lead with to do a cartwheel? My 7 year old DS loves gymnastics and he’s just started doing lessons at a little local club. He’s great at all the running, jumping, balancing stuff but he just can’t get the hang of doing cartwheels and I think it’s because he’s very left handed.

I last did a cartwheel about 200 years ago and fear my pelvic floor would fall out if I attempted one. Plus I’m right handed.

It’s only a little club and although the coach is lovely she seems a bit confused as to how to help him.

Any suggestions?

I'm left hand and would do a cartwheel (when I could do one that is) with left hand first.

I did a dance class recently and discovered why I am so dreadful at it - I'm 'left-footed' - everyone starts on their right foot and it confuses the hell out of me. If I start left footed and ignore that everone else is doing something else, I'm okay.

Ha, ha just spat out my gin and tonic you evil person. Left handed but ancient and couldn't do a cartwheels even when I wasn't. I'm now assuming it's because I'm left handedGrin. Sorry I can't help but have to refresh myGin

I’ve never been able to do a cartwheel, but if I was to try I would lead with my left.

loyaul I think that this is actually DS’s main issue: he just gets completely confused then stands around looking bewildered
