What would you change to make it (almost) perfect in an ideal world?

I’d take out:

Photocoping/Scanning
Trying to arrange meetings between umpteen unavailable people
Encrypted emails
Codes for doors, dinner cards, photocopiers
Completely unnecessary meetings

More money
More predictable management
Less entitled members of the public.

The passive aggressive person I have to closely work with, he is a total knob, makes innocuous remarks, or ignores me, can't wait until he retires, please God, sooner rather than later. Everyone else, plus the whole job are absolutely lovely, I am very lucky in that respect

4 days a week instead of 5

I'd take out mondays and of course get paid more.

Also, having to do recruitment, the only bit I hate.

the commute and other people

I've recently left a job I really like because of the lack of flexible working (working from home some of the time, compressed hours) where there is no reason not to apart from the presenteeisn mentality. It's a shame because I enjoyed the work itself.

My new position offers wfh when not needed in office and compressed hours to have a 4day week (which for me cuts down on paying a days childcare). The work is less interesting but this is how you attract/retain staff these days.
