Hi. I wonder if anyone could advise me please. Found a real reasonable priced caravan in a camp in Clacton for summer hols next year. Just wondered if anyone has been on holiday here or from area who can advise me what is like. DH and DS aged 11 be going as well. I googled the sea front etc and it looks nice with lots to do but a family member who went along time ago saying not but think been done up since then. Many thanks

ohh thank you everyone. Think def going to book. Like sound of Walton and Frinton and also the pier at Clacton besides the town being run down a bit. Be ok for an odd day. Cholchester looks lovely too. The campsite has a lot on it too inc outdoor pool if weather nice!! Glad i posted as got good advice. Let hubby read it all later x thanks again.

We stayed in Walton last month and we didn't find it grim at all. But then I live in Essex anyway! If you're considering doing a trip to Colchester Zoo and have a Tesco Clubcard, it's worth looking to see if you have enough points to exchange for a ticket (or 3) as it is £££ to get in.

My mil lived in frinton and we went all the time. Ds's loved the beaches nearby that all other pp's have mentioned and the pier and fish and chips.
Agree with other pp who said all seaside places are a tiny bit rough, run down these days, but if you go knowing that, you have simply the best time.

We did a weekend in a caravan there a few years ago. It was fine. The beach was nice, Colchester Zoo was a good day out and if I remember correctly there was a pretty big factory outlet village close by that was quite nice for a browse around.
