Birthday party ideas for 13yo dd

Dd is turning 13 and wants to invite a lot (20-30) friends to her party. She's asking for ideas and what we can afford for that many children. It's in November so picnic/ anything outside is not a good idea.

Any suggestions? How has you 13yo dd celebrated her birthday?

Thanks!

My DD is also a (late) November birthday. Don't know if 13 is too old, but for her 12th we went to a wood and did a massive treasure hunt and then played capture the flag. The kids were all warned to wear old/warm clothes and wellies, although it was a beautiful sunny day in the end. The photos I have of them all in silhouette with long shadows are some of my favouritest.
It is hard in November though, I do sympathise. Those bastard summer borns with their picnics in parks!

For her 13th, she just had the gang over for a sleepover.

Thanks! Our house is small and dh would move out if we even suggested a sleepover!

I've suggested a hall and they can have music and pizza.... But apparently that's not cool....

DD did snowboarding for 12th but lower numbers, another friend did ice skating, lots just do a few friends at this age. Not sure what we will do for 13th either. DS did cinema plus waffles and ice cream for 11th but don't know if that's cool. 😎

Trampoline park though adds up with numbers.

Wouldnt do it.

Its a tricky age for dramas and fall outs. Keep numbers small and to an activity she enjoys. Realistically for that number of kids the price will mount up.

If she really wants loads id do the cinema, our vue is only £5 pp and a treat box is £4 (( which includes a drink, chocolate bar and popcorn )) or look at independent cinema hire. Think ours is £50. You use your own dvd and provide own snacks. Hiring a hall for a mass sleepover and using a projector would work the same way.

We did ice skating for dd's 13th. Twelve friends though, not twenty!

Swimming pool party with inflatable assault course at nearby leisure centre.
Bowling
Roller disco
Laser Quest

Thanks all! great suggestions. I'll just need to convince dd on smaller group!

Dd has had some great parties at home at that sort of age. Much smaller numbers though - around 10-12 guests. We did early Saturday night, around 6-9pm.

One year they did mocktail making (I nicked this idea from MN!) - fancy plastic cocktail glasses, umbrellas and a variety of juices and soft drinks.

You can do similar with making ice cream sundaes - different ice creams, sprinkles, sauces etc and leave them to it!

Pizza and a movie always go down well. And a few board games that are good for big groups - articulate, pass the bomb.

Deadringer · 08/09/2018 12:16

At that age the numbers are usually less ime, they tend to just invite their own circle of friends so I think 20 or 30 is unreasonable on your dds part. My DD just turned 15 and for the last few years they seem to just invite a few friends over for a pizza and just hang out together. Ice skating, cinema or bowling are all good too.

We never did this in the end, but one of my plans for DD was that one of her bffs has a birthday about 6 weeks after hers, so I'd always thought I might ask the friend's mum about doing a joint party - hiring a hall and having a disco. That way we could invite loads without it costing either of us a lot.

But DD always had other plans, so we never did this.

disco in a hall seems to be to go to for 13 at the moment round here. Boys and girls
