Tell me about your dining table!

Exciting stuff I know but we are about to change our playroom back in to a dining room and I’m losing myself in a world of tables, chairs and benches!

I’d love to see what you’ve got, do you love it, and most importantly does it work for family life? There’s five of us but I’m a cm so it regularly needs to fit 7/8 plus up to 10 at Christmas and special occasions.

Extending would probably work best for us and I love oak wood in particular.

Ours is an extending type from habitat, about 25 years ago, but instead of extending into a rectangle it extends to a square, which is ideal in Victorian houses, with square rooms. It's great for board games that need more room, and can sit 12 at a push.

I think I've got the same table as Bandol

It's lasted really well & you can get 12 round if some of them are children. I have a heatproof cloth & an oilcloth on mine.

Eventually it might get replaced, but not for ages yet. It's survived 15 years, 5 house moves, 3 cats, 2 children and God knows how many parties, so I'd recommend.

I have this one - it's a Skovby 24 which when un-extended sits 8 (although the website says 6) and when extended can fit 14 or even 20 people, depending on the number of leaves you buy.
It looks a bit boring in the photo, but we have the oak solid oil version which looks lovely.

Thinking of getting one from this company for our new kitchen/diner. Saw them at a local country show and was impressed. Now you are all making me think about going for a round one.......

The range is Fresco by G-Plan and it was produced in 1966!

I have an Ikea extending one, it has two extra leaves. We bought it when we were abroad and it’s travelled quite a bit.

It seats 8 comfortably without the leaves in but we have had 12. With one leaf it seats 10/12 comfortably but we’ve had 14 and with two leaves it seats 14/16 comfortably but we’ve had 20.

Charity shop £40 table that I stripped & painted & stained, with mismatched vintage chairs & a bench on one side, (easier to move a bench than 3 chairs for cleaning).

My mum hates that we don't have 8 matching chairs but I love it!

We have a Swoon Dulwich which seats 6-8. The zinc top is getting nicely aged and we get loads of compliments on it. All our previous tables have been super cheap Ikea ones or second hand from eBay so I love this one!

As there are only two of us we have a love little wooden round table, but also a super handy fold away trestle table for our infamous dinner parties! It's white and fits in with our home style really nicely with a little vase on top - Always have to be cautious of stains though!

Here are a few places where you can get similar style ones and a folding table that could come in handy if you are strapped for space!
