Age gap and sibling rivalry

Always thought I would like a 3/4 year age gap between DC. However having read another thread recently and from then discussing it with friends. Sibling rivalry seems quite common with that age gap. Has anyone found this to be the case or do you think it just happens whatever the age gap? My friends reasoning was the first DC has had too long of it just being about them. It's making me feel I should try for DC2 sooner Shock

@Enidblyton1 LOL with my 14 month gap zero sibling rivalry!!! Mainly because she was too young to notice I think. The one 5 years older definitely was jealous though.

With #4 there was a 2 year gap but again no jealousy because once you get to 4 DC they are too busy playing with each other to care that much IME!

My two are 13 months apart and were best friends when they were little.... Now entering the teenager years and they fight like cats and dogs... So tiring. 🙄

I have a 21 month age gap and there isn't any sibling rivalry as such - they get on great 80% of the time but the other 20% is world war 3 - there is 3.5 years between my brother and I and I was definitely jealous. We are very close now but still tease my mum that he is her favourite (she gets very cross!!)
