Moving to Lincoln for job - help needed

I am sorry for starting a new thread. I am moving to Lincoln in order to start my new job in Lincoln University. I am quite a grown up woman but this move is making me feel so scared. How is Lincoln city to live and get settled down? Any clues or ideas what could help me to not to feel down? I am so so sad on leaving cardiff. Please help me. I am fine with new job and university, it's only the idea of starting life in Lincoln on my own. How easy it will be? I have a friend who's happy to help me etc but I would obviously want to get on my feet quickly and I want to be happy as well. Any ideas of how the city is?

I don’t think it I any worse than my other town with regards to drugs and homelessness, which are more overt now across the country.

Around the Bailgate as others have said is nice, lots of tourists during the summer though for events such as this weekends steampunk festival and lost village festival. The Christmas market is one of the larger ones in Europe. Walters estate agents handle the Cathedral properties they don’t tend to advertise so worth asking if they have any available. Not brimming with homeless and drug users, they are around of course but no more than any other town/city. I’d avoid the houses around the monks road/ football ground areas. Lots of villages, have a look the train line connections.

I live in a village just south of the city, i would definitely recommend living out of the city & commuting in. I’m only about 15 minutes from the uni but far enough out to live in a friendly busy large village.
The traffic at the moment is a nightmare due to road improvements but once their done things should be a lot better.
