Birthday cake/pray bags OR NOT!

Hi all, my son will be 9 soon - he’s having friends over - then we will go to the park for a play and then picnic around 4pm - then I’m taking them out for waffles/pancakes.
Shall I get a cake and when can I serve it?
Also party bags for 9 year old boys?
My son said not to bother?
Any ideas please
Thanks

Not sure they’ll appreciate a pray bag 😂

No party bags and maybe a waffle stack with candles?

Pray bags Grin

I would do as Harry suggests, or maybe with something small like a high bounce ball or a stretchy man to take home

Surely if your ds thinks not to do it, then don't do it? Wouldn't bother with a party bag at that age. Or a pray bag for that matter Grin

FWIW one of DS2 friend’s mum said grace before she cut the birthday cake Grin

Maybe just a small cake so he can still blow out the candles.
Sweetie cones are really popular in my house and much cheaper than party bags!

ShatnersBassoon · 20/08/2018 19:48

Yass cake! Amen to that.

Ds went to a birthday party and had a book and a pack of sweets instead for a party bag, I assume they were books bought from book people or similar and wrapped in simple paper. Was nice to have something less plastic for a change. Sweetie cones also popular, and maybe less geeky?
