Change ‘wrong’ vehicle registration document or not?

DH and I bought a second hand car a couple of weeks back, trading in my old car to do so. I changed our insurance and arranged car tax on the assumption that I’d also be the registered keeper of the new car. However I’ve just got home to find the new V5C document has arrived, and the dealer has put DH down as the registered keeper.

I want to change it so that we still ‘own’ one car each (DH already has another car) and so that I can continue to insure it as the keeper and main driver, to keep my no claims discount going etc. However, if we get it changed will that affect the value of the car in future, as it will look like it’s had an extra owner?

So annoyed- wish I could call DVLA and explain it was a mistake, but I imagine they won’t have any of that.

This happened to my dh years ago, fil was the first person on the insurance with dh as 2nd driver. Insurance company had fil as registered owner but it was dh.
Dh wrote the car off in an accident and the insurance never paid out £10k down the drain for a clerical error!

I don't think your correct there (but don't mind learning something new).
When you take out an insurance policy you do need to input whether you are the registered owner and then you select who is a main/named driver....

I am correct.

Yes you do get asked. And you select accordingly. But there is no reason that the OPDH can't be the registered keeper and OP the person who insured the car.

Our situation might have been a bit unique @SoyDora because it was for a driver who had been using motability cars for the past few years. It was a huge hike in price for us though, from £30/m (me,car registered in my name) to nearly £70/m (my mam, who has been driving 3x as long as me).

I got my V5 and it was wrong. They re-issued and it was wrong in a different place (had been correct on #1) . So I'm on V5 number three for my car. All sorted in 10 days.
I'm glad I sorted it though. I didn't want any hassle if anything happened
