I've bought a house but the previous owner keeps coming back and trying the lock.

Basically, I bought a house with my partner nearly 2 months ago now and the previous owner keeps coming back to "drop round" keys that she has mysteriously found. We know that she has tried the lock (we changed it the day we moved in) as our neighbours have witnessed her doing so. She has also tried banging on the door when she can't get in. I have a small 3 month old daughter and am looking for advice on what I should/can do? I feel that this woman is coming round too often when she no longer even lives within 15 minutes of my home.

Perhaps the previous owner has moved back in by now Grin

Tell her to stop. Confused

I bumped the thread when I asked a similar question, not sure about MN protocols but thought it better to have all similar posts in 1 thread.

My person hasn't been back, hopefully that will be it for her now.

I do t think it's an over-reaction from OP at all, this woman tried to open her front door! That's a huge evasion of privacy.

OP I'd contact your solicitor and send her a letter asking her to stop.

Our vendor popped round with window keys after we'd been in about a month. But he was very polite, rang the bell, waited for us to answer, brief convo and left. Have never seen him again despite the fact he lives on the other side of the village.

Our old neighbours turned up a couple of times after we moved in with keys, didn't try lock but they claimed to have found one set and the others were their daughters who had taken them to college on moving day - not really acceptable as keys should be handed over on moving day and the fifth set never turned up (their son had them in Australia), so after we had baliff letters for him and he used our address for credit, we changed locks - didn't trust him.
