The pictures or the text? I often blog based on a picture I have taken...I'd be interested in what everyone else does?

It's the difference between a newspaper and a magazine, isn't it? I write a 'magazine' type blog so I use pictures. And I like pictures.Smile

But when I read an article in a broadsheet I don't need a picture, I want the information or opinion.

I suppose it depends on the sort of blog that you like reading - I only read blogs about history, art, writing, cookery, fashion history and photo a day blogs about various cities, which would be much less appealing to me if they don't have pictures.

If I was into reading blogs about health then I suppose I wouldn't feel the need for pictures - mainly because I'm squeamish!

Good point.

Your posts are short, that is true. I do think that a longer blog post benefits from a pic to break the page up a bit and draw the reader in.

I don't think there is a right and wrong way - and better not to have a picture than to use a haphazard shit one.

Anyone else fed up of the iPhone app ones (now you are all going to say that you use them all the time and I will have offended you). You know the ones I mean, that look like they are a polaroid photo from the 70s. Bit overused at the moment, imo.

I write the post, and then add pics if the mood takes me. I tend to add pics if I have a new bird as an introduction, for example. Chicken people love seeing fluffy chicks.

I love the Hipstamatic photos. I use them a little bit and really like it when other people use them on their blogs.

TheMadHouse · 09/08/2011 12:57

I have to say for me it is the text. I blog to get the words out of my head. Plus my pictures are just not composed well enough to be the main draw!

MmLindor - the instagram ones? Yes, I am! Grin

stitchthis · 10/08/2011 09:25

Hadn't seen them until now. Have to admit to loving them. I have no shame obviously.

I did a post today with no picture as an experiment and am feeling very unhappy about it. I think I will crack and add one by the end of the day. Addicted to pictures clearly. Maybe the blog shld be called 'click this' Hmm

I'm actually in the middle of writing a post at the minute that has pictures! Shock

TrillianAstra · 12/08/2011 13:25

I've just taken a picture before writing a piece, but it's an action shot of cooking something so needs to be taken right now.

Have just realised that when I'm very Angry or Sad then I tend not to use pictures...look at my last two posts
