Are only 'professional' blogs being accepted?

Just wondering as all the blogs I've seen on the network are either by journalists or NCT leaders, etc. Are bog-standard blogs created by mums without flashy layouts being declined? I haven't seen any listed on the network.

I applied a week ago but I haven't heard anything, not even an acknowledgement email.

Hi -- Thanks for raising this. We're trying to build a network that promotes new voices and big names, but the emphasis is on great writing for its own sake. We want to encourage lots of Mumsnetters to start blogging and are promoting a broad mix of subjects in our top slot on the homepage. We're trying to introduce you to the range of voices and issues as we build up our numbers. But our aim is to give everyone 15+ minutes of fame Smile.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the acknowledgement email. They should be automatic. If you send us a link to [email protected], we can look for the application to make sure. We're reading applications from last week now, so it shouldn't be long. Sorry about the wait, and thanks for applying. Looking forward to reading your blog.

I don't think I ever got an acknowledgment e mail either and I do check my spam folder. I put my application in a while ago, perhaps I'll e mail a link. Do you reject blogs as well as accept?

There are a few blogs that won't make sense within our network - and when that happens we'll email them to explain or chat about why, and figure out whether we can find a way around that. And we're always open to revisiting blogs later on. That's why it's taking a little while to get back to everyone. Each blog is individual, and someone's work, so it matters.
