I had my first good 'un yesterday:

"why are ladies feel bad when their navel are gazed by men"

Hmm

I thought it might be handy to have a thread where we can make a note of them now and again, whether for pure comedy value, or just general interest in how people are finding our blogs.

Someone googled "Caitlin Moran salary" and got me! I expect they were rather disappointed.

(I was musing on the paywall and saying that I was happy to pay as long as the money paid for the salaries of people I liked and didn't go to Rupert Murdoch)

Um.

OK, so I'm getting better and checked out my site stat searches and I got a "female black dog pee"

So, yeah.

lol at some of these. I haven't posted in bloggers for aaages.

Today I got "cousin demeaned me on online family tree". Which made me wonder how exactly you would demean someone on a family tree.

My blog's called The Girl Behind. I get a fair few searches on things like 'take a girl from behind' 'girl's behind' and variations on those. I'm pretty sure that I'm not providing them with what they're looking for.

I also once wrote a post about being in the Griffin Savers (80s childrens bank account) and I get a lot of people coming to me through either that or searches for Nat West piggy banks. Makes me think there might be a market for writing more nostalgic stuff.

My Webmaster Tools tell me that my website is returned for 'lesbians breastfeeding' it's the 4th highest search term for my blog!!
You think Google would figure out that those two words have never appeared in the same post, but nope.

:D

Grin

just got: "content of the nigerian daily trust newspaper of19th july 2011". Not weird in itself, but very odd in that I can't think of anything in my blog that could have produced it as a result for that search.

Not a search engine term but I have had a minor celeb in LA land on my blog this week and e mail me because what I'd written really resonated with her and she wanted to share experience, she has dated some major celebs like Robbie Williams and Russell Brand in the past few years. I was really Shock

'what will happen to a church where there is Jezebel spirit'

I'm doggedly keeping this thread alive. I find these glimpses of what people search for really intriguing.

Good ones from my GA are 'is painting a blue square in the backyard, so google earth thinks i have a pool a good idea?', 'are lurchers stupid' and 'how did they know Amy Winehouse was dead?' !!!!

I've had some very very strange ones but my favourite has got to be 'I fancy Russell Crowe', which led to this strange chat with the man himself.

I still get quite a few Russell Crowe fanciers landing on my blog. Poor things.

I just got 'the benny hill chicken does not like laying eggs'. I like to think it's a code.

Snerk, I just got "20somethingmum troll"

20somethingmum was one of the people who joined in the attack a few weeks ago after that over the top introduction thread. She also posted a comment on my blog. Apparently, she's well known...Hmm

Oooh, I've just found where this is.

"cartoon throwing tomatoes"
(no idea)

"secret diary that opens to your voice"
(sounds cool, must be MmeG-related)

"marie antoinette with her head"
(another MmeG one)

Writing about your Marie Antoinette book has brought me a whole 2 views that I wouldn't have had otherwise!

OK, so here's something weird.

I had 29 pageviews on 29th Sept.

My average on a day when I don't post is 2-5.

On 29th Sept I was on holiday, with no internet.

So what happened? Any ideas how I can find out?

Do you get much "Marie Antoinette with her head"?

Are there many of her without her head?

:o

I get plenty of 'Marie Antoinette/Anne Boleyn/Catherine Howard/Mary, Queen of Scots without head' type hits, yes.

Ah, the perennial fascination with pretty beheaded ladies of the past...

Someone found my blog with this search the other day: pictures of primary school assemblies malaysia

Which is an intersting search term. And not sure how they got to mine from that.

Lots of people came to my Michael Jackson story looking for pictures of his body. Hope they were suitably disappointed.

I've written a lot about breastfeeding on my blog so I've had some odd boob related searches. Most disturbing was 'will my wife's breast milk make me fat?'. The oddest search is people wanting to know how to read a pregnancy kit which I still get now.
