Infidelity

Did anyone else see Lorraine - Daybreak this morning. I was watching it with my two eldest children and was horrified to some American guy who calls himself the "King of Infidelity" on. It is disgusting! How can anyone condone infidelity, and I will tell you it doesn't save marriages! What a horrid man! I am outraged. Does anyone else feel the same?

Lizzie

its just another website promotion....for marital affairs.....nothing new or unusual in it,alot of them about!

lizzieloveslarry · 28/09/2010 17:46

I have never seen any others promoted on a Daytime TV show? My ex-husband cheated on me when I was pregnant with my daughter. It tore the whole family apart and my kids have never forgiven their dad. So, I think I have the right to be outraged, am I not?

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 28/09/2010 17:48

maybe it has been on other daytime shows....loose women maybe? dunno....but Jerry Springer stuff is shown in the afternoon too.

yeah,be outraged.

Yeah but I dont watch Jerry Springer with my young children. I think these things should only be shown on shows for adults. In fact i think these websites should be banned. How does the CEO sleep at night?

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 28/09/2010 17:59

i doubt they will ever get banned!!

after all....the people who sign up to them are doing so willingly!

lizzieloveslarry · 28/09/2010 18:04

You seem quite pro these sights! One may come to the wrong conclusion?!

OP posts:
JNewton · 28/09/2010 18:09

I completely agree Lizzie, I sat there with my children wondering what sort of society we live in. It's disgusting that this behaviour is condoned when people may have families, or loved ones that will ultimately be hurt due to their actions.

GypsyMoth · 28/09/2010 18:13

which conclusion may that be then??

lizzieloveslarry · 28/09/2010 18:19

Too true JNewton - at least someone agrees!
I am just saying Whitecherry you dont seem to fussed by them...

OP posts:
pinkmandy · 28/09/2010 18:48

I saw the thing on Daybreak this morning as well and thought it was all pretty awful. He seemed to be bragging about it all - and Lorraine hardly did anything to stop him! Can there really be so many people joining this website? What does that say about our society if this is allowed to happen?

Tippychoocks · 28/09/2010 18:54

I agree that infidelity is shit and my own family was broken up as a result so I'm no fan of whatever this man bangs on about.

But on the issue of not having him on t'telly - you can always not watch programmes made for adults with young children present if you're worried. That's how I know so much about Cbeebies Grin

GypsyMoth · 28/09/2010 22:23

i'm not too fussed by them to be honest!! plenty of ways for a dh to get himself into troble on the net anyway....this is just another one

and i dont have a dh,thankfully

pinkmandy · 29/09/2010 10:56

I only found out at the end of my relationship with my ex that he'd been cheating with people he met on websites for 6 YEARS on and off - so I think these sites turn someone who has a vague thought about cheating into an actual cheater - sorry to hear that you're the same Tippychoocks.
But on the note of not watching shows made for adults with children - I'd hardly have described Lorraine Kelly as an adult themed programme at that time of the day! They should keep that kind of filth until after the watershed.

Tippychoocks · 29/09/2010 11:26

Of course Lorraine Kelly is for adults! If it were for children then it would cover children's issues or have kid's presenters. You'd know because Lorraine would be animated.
I agree that "filth" should be after the w/shed but there is plenty of stuff not suitable for children on during the day: murder mysteries, Jeremy Kyle, Trisha, Politics Today and Bargain Hunt. Some are not suitable because of their content, some are just not for children. And Bargain Hunt is just crap.
If you don't want children to see television made for adults where adult issues may be discussed, don't let them watch television programmes out of the safety net of CBeebies or similar.
Object to the content all you like and as it happens I agree that this man sounds horrible but for posters to say that they sat watching an adult programme with young children and were horrified at the content is a little naive.

lizzieloveslarry · 29/09/2010 11:27

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that what this man is doing it totally wrong them. It's just a shame that so many of us have had our families torn apart my the kind of stuff this self named 'king of infidelity' is selling.

Funny that we are all talking about him and I've just seen this interview on the website for the Evening Standard (I wasn't specifically looking I promise!). I couldn't remember his name before, but now he's done this interview they seem to be making out that it's a fun thing to do or something - what does everyone else reckon? www.thisislondon.co.uk/lifestyle/article-23883083-current-affairs-why-cheating-is-better-than-divorce.do

lizzieloveslarry · 29/09/2010 13:41

I've just seen that interview - I can't believe that a paper as respectable as the Evening Standard is supporting this man and his infidelity website!!! Once that paper hits the streets tonight I wonder how long it will take before marraiges are breaking down across London - and he'll be laughing all the way to the bank!! It's just all so wrong!!

OP posts:
JNewton · 29/09/2010 14:19

I have just read this article. I wonder, is it just me that wants this 'happily married' man to be hurt by an affair? How can someone condone the hurt of breaking up a relationship or a family, when they have never felt that pain, let alone be responsible for it!!
I completely understand why Lorraine described him as 'the most hated man in America'.

lizzieloveslarry · 29/09/2010 17:13

Ha ha! I love it JNewton! Let's see him suffer when his wife goes off and sleeps around behind his back through one of his sites and see how he likes it. It'd be like the guy who invented the Atkins Diet (Mr Atkins I assume) died from obesity. I know I sound like a ranting old woman, but things like this really get me wound up!

OP posts:
OldLadyKnowsNothing · 29/09/2010 17:24

I got a "can't find that story" on pinkmandy's link, but re "I wonder how long it will take before marraiges are breaking down across London" - looks like they already are!

pinkmandy · 29/09/2010 18:06

It should have come up - but it's the "Current Affairs" article with the big picture of the guy who runs that website. Some of the comments under it make our comments look positively angelic! HAHAHA!
www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/ or www.thisislondon.co.uk/lifestyle/article-23883083-current-affairs-why-cheating-is-better-than-divorce.do
Looks like London is a city of cheats from Oldladyknowsnothing's link!!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 29/09/2010 18:41

That second one works, thanks.

lizzieloveslarry · 30/09/2010 10:08

I can't believe I just heard this man Noel something or other on Nick Ferrari's show this morning AND there was a woman who said she'd had several affairs through his site while married to her ex. For God's sake - who'd admit to something like that live on radio???

Am I just being a prude here? Is it just me that thinks people shouldn't do stuff like this in the first place and if they do they should just keep quiet about it???

OP posts:
JNewton · 30/09/2010 10:49

I hate that we live in a society where this is acceptable and even promoted. My children are growing up in an environment where promiscuity is encouraged, and as hard as I try, I cannot keep them away from it. Being a child to a broken marriage, I've seen the destruction it has on everyone in the family and I never want my children to go through that, especially not due to one greedy little man making money from people's suffering.

lizzieloveslarry · 30/09/2010 10:53

Oh well said JNewton - I was starting to think it was just me being an old fuddy duddy or something! Surely we should be working towards helping promote marriage and fidelity instead of the filth that this man is pedalling just to make himself rich off the back of other people's misery.
