There’s a lot of negative press and misinformation about benefit claimants so thought I’d start a thread. I work nearly full time and have 2 children. Ask away.

I see it as defending my own position. I have always worked hard, have done many jobs people wouldn't do. We have a system whereby too many people rely on the state . With a gov like this then yes I will take whatever steps I can . I already pay masses of tax at a high rate.

You’re a tax cheat.

No just call me a Rachel. It's all legal.

Claiming UC is legal too.

Same as claiming benefits then.

LupaMoonhowl · 26/10/2025 14:01

Of course it’s not the same.
UC is gimmee gimmee gimmee what you have. Hand over the money you have earned to meeeee. Because I am entitled to make whatever poor lifestyle choices I like and you have to give me your money to pay for them.
Perhaps each claimant should be assigned to a tax payer (or more like a group of tax payers) and perform services to them in exchange for the cash handout 😂😂😂😂
You know, like actually working for the money handed over.

Wow, you really hate benefit claimants don't you.
You are one stroke or accident away from being one yourself.

Perhaps the companies who pay so badly that people need topping up could be held to account. Or the landlords who have paid off the mortgage as a result of their tenants claiming housing allowance.

If you are so deserving and intelligent, what is stopping you getting one of the better paying jobs?

Imagine having so little awareness of people’s circumstances, you are happy to verbally express your superiority. Your opinion is so rigid and stereotyping. It simply shows a lack of intelligence and awareness on your part. I am embarrassed for you.

Not sure how you know what I do tbh. Or what's bought me to the place I'm at in life. But thanks for making assumptions.

Well if everybody got "better paid jobs" who would be left to work as carers, TA's, delivery drivers and all the other low paid workers who were essential in 2020 but appear to be nothing more than shit on peoples shoes now?

You seem to have an overinflated sense of what your taxes actually pay for (not much which is why the UK is trillions in debt).

The OP works and pays tax. You might want to work on your reading comprehension.

Really interested in what sort of monetary ballpark you think a ‘better paying job’ falls?

Not foregetting nurses, NHS staff, police and prison officers, custodial escorts, GP receptionists,, employees at supermarkets, charity workers etc etc (all those people that make our lives a little easier)
