@CrispAura I filled in an application for OSG was asked for an interview a week later very easy put on wait list and was told there was a place in March about a month later. My application was submitted enhanced clearance and that is where the delay has been MOJ has outsourced recruitment and they are SHIT plus their software is not Apple compatible which you’re not told so I was trying to use iPhone iPad iMac 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️and getting nowhere. Anyway they’re running at 90 working days so I think it’ll be a year give or take by the time I start good job I’m not desperate. It’s a women’s prison with a baby unit
I really enjoyed Time thank you for the stamp of approval

Shared Services were shit when I started so looks like they haven't changed much!!
Contrary to what some think on here, I am a 'girls girl' not misogynistic at all, so you go girl!! TBH, if you are in a London jail, the pay isn't that much different. I would stay as an OSG, and save your sanity 🙌

Have you come across a prisoner where you know they are totally innocent?

Not totally innocent no. They have done something morally wrong, but I don't think they should have been put away, no. They got put inside because the person that got them there had money to put them there

I know someone who went to prison for various things and clearly had undiagnosed MH issues (probably schizophrenia). Does someone like this have a better chance of proper diagnosis and treatment in jail?

Each case depends, but they will see the MH nurses and they will be treated

thank you for replying! In his case he had a very brief MH assessment when going to trial, but he was very adept at putting on a mask of normality. It's only if you spent some time interacting with him that you'd begin to notice sudden irrational rages and bizarre comments. Does this sort of thing get picked up on in jail or is everyone too busy keeping themselves to themselves?

She’s not a solicitor though - a healthcare assistant. Anyone can send fake legal documents.

I’m a secondary school English teacher. In my experience, students who have poor literacy rates are the ones who are most likely getting into a lot of trouble. They often misbehave to cover up how much they struggle to access the curriculum and learning. These are also my favourite students to work with because I feel like I can make the most impact when helping them.

I’ve often thought about teaching in prisons. OP, do you have any insight into what this experience is like for teachers who come into prisons from schools? I’ve worked in inner city London schools and am good at behaviour management as well as teaching and learning side of the job (don’t want to blow own trumpet, just want to highlight I am not put off by challenging behaviour).

Lozenge have you heard of the Shannon Trust?
