Not sure if anyone would be interested in this but I’ve seen the topic pop up sometimes on MN over the years and it’s in the news a bit too. So thought I’d see if anyone has any questions.

Were you constipated?
Do you have a predisposition syndrome or family history?

I felt constipated for months, but turned out what felt as constipation was actually the tumour making me feel that way. I felt like I hadn’t fully emptied my bowels whenever I used the loo.

No family history whatsoever, and no syndrome that causes a predisposition to it. I wish I had an answer but never got one.

Do you have any idea what might have caused it? Any thank you for agreeing to talk about it, a very worrying subject. I hope you are ok now.

I’m ok, thank you! I’m married with two small children that I was always worried I could never have. So I’m doing good.

No idea. The doctors and genetic specialist never knew why. I was too young and healthy for it to be caused by lifestyle so they thought either an unidentified genetic mutation or simply a freak case. With no family history it was very unexpected.

There was an article in the news this week suggesting it’s because our biological age is older than our actual age, but I’m sceptical as for it to start growing in mid to late teens, I must have been really unhealthy which wasn’t the case!
