I found it helpful to read about other people’s experience on MN and Reddit in the run up to the op.

It is very early days, the surgery was 10am yesterday.

How are you feeling?
What were your reasons for having one?

I may have to consider this after I've finished my weight loss (also had 2 c- sections so there's that hang anyway!)

Had you lost a lot of weight?
How much did it cost?
How long do you need off work?

Hope you're not too sore.

I’m not feeling too bad thank you! It feels like I have done an enormous quantity of sit ups - that sort of muscle soreness. In addition to that, I’m tired and quite faint, trying to keep hydrated.

I had one for cosmetic reasons, because having had two pregnancies and lost a lot of weight I was unhappy with the very loose skin on my stomach. I’m very into sport and I did all I could through diet and exercise. I waited two years after reaching target weight.

Thank you! Sore but manageable!

I had lost about a third of my body weight from the end of lockdown by getting really into sport and nutrition, BMI from 29 to 20 and my body fat percentage was down to about 17%, so there is nothing more I could do.

I don’t live in the UK, it cost just over 5000€ but I had another quote for €10000 so it varies wildly. I preferred the more expensive surgeon but it was a lot of money and mine was a fairly straightforward case (no Lipo needed) so I went for the cheaper one. In the end he threw in a little bit of lipo anyway!

Im a teacher so I waited until the holidays - he advised two weeks but I don’t go back for another 3.5
