What's fibromyalgia? I've heard of it but don't really know what it is.
Are you his carer?
How did you meet?
Do you have kids?

Did he have/know he had these conditions when you got together? Or did they become apparent later?

Hi

Fibromyalgia, also called fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.

It just came on one day he complained he couldn't get out of bed, I thought he was joking about and didn't really think much of it. But after lots of diffeeent tests ct scans mri scans where nothing really showed doctors put it down to fibromyalgia.

Yes I'm his carer. He can manage somethings on his own but o assist with personal care, food, medication and taking him out places ect.

We met through work. Before he started struggling with his condition. I knew about his mental health but at the time there was no issue physically. Kids - we have none together we did talk about it, however it's currently not viable. We both have kids from previous relationships though.

His mental health, he got sectioned just after we got together so I did know about that. But his physically health started to deteriorate about 4/5 months or so after we got together.

Are you in love with one another?

Do you enjoy being married to him?

How does to EUPD affect you?

That is not really what springs to mind when you say someone is mentally and physically disabled

Yes, I would think of someone with a learning disability as 'mentally disabled', not a psychiatric diagnosis.

From the Gov website
A mental health condition is considered a disability if it has a long-term effect on your normal day-to-day activity. This is defined under the Equality Act 2010.Your condition is ‘long term’ if it lasts, or is likely to last, 12 months.‘Normal day-to-day activity’ is defined as something you do regularly in a normal day. This includes things like using a computer, working set times or interacting with people.HTH

That sounds difficult op. How do you manage your own mental health?

Fibromyalgia sucks. It causes fatigue too.

Has your husband found anything that helps his Fibro?
How did you both first realise that he had eupd?

GoodVibesHere · 07/08/2024 18:59

Do you get any time to yourself? Are you able to do nice things that you enjoy for yourself, or are you unable to leave him alone for any period of time?

MonsieurBlobby · 07/08/2024 19:26

I would never ask anyone this IRL but as this is AMA...

If you knew what you knew now before you started dating (about caring for your DH) would you have begun the relationship?

Also, is there anything your DH could do (as in, it's within his capabilities to do it) but doesn't currently do, that would make your life as a career easier?

XenoBitch · 08/08/2024 19:38

How did you meet?

EUPD is a very difficult condition to live with. It is often considered a huge red flag when it comes to relationships.

What is "registered disabled"?

BruFord · 08/08/2024 23:38

My questions are similar to previous ones. What impact does the EUPD have on you and do you get time for yourself? You’re obviously a very caring person, OP. 💐
