I'm so sorry you felt bad enough to try to end your life.

Are you in a happier place now? It sounds like you're in a good relationship.

bfsham · 11/05/2024 16:54

Bless you OP and lots of love for your continued recovery.
Thank you for starting the thread, it's important that these issues are in the public domain.
Thanks for answering my questions so candidly too xx

OP I am crying reading this thread. Truly, deeply....I am so glad that you are alive! I know this is weird to say to a stranger. I lost someone very close to me last year through suicide and I have someone else close to me who through a routine daycase operation has ended up with NF and amputation and various other complications. So this thread feels quite close to home. I know you've been through hell. What strength you have to get through it all. My complete respect!

I'm sorry for your loss.
Honestly.
NF is the worst, very lucky to have not lost my leg but it is still very very disfigured and has left me looking quite strange and anxious.
In the very early stages I used to scream at anyone who used to say "you're so lucky for pulling through" but I didn't want to, obviously or I wouldn't have tried to kill myself, in that point in time, I wish I did die because I'm still not recovered physically and not being able to even sit myself up in bed and hold my body weight myself and had to be moved around in a hoist.
Everyone's experience is different yes, but people may want to hear other(s) experience as a loved one may be going through similar things.
X

Hi OP

thank you for starting an interesting thread. Nowhere near the same but I had a week including starting in a HDU last year and I really hated how I was completely reliant on stranger. I’ve found therapy very helpful to talk through it - have you had any assistance as part of your rehab?

CarolineFields · 11/05/2024 19:17

Thank you for your thread x

Very interesting to read OP. I'm sad you felt the need to try and end your life and hold you have come through the other side. I have felt the depths of bleak depression, but could never have actually done anything about it. Fortunately I found medication that has helped enormously. Wishing you wellness, both mentally and physically. ❤️

Thank you,
I never used to believe all this "when it's your time" shite but I honestly do now
It clearly wasn't my time because who the fuck survives stuff like that.
Also, it's not just that,
The NHS - they worked tirelessly to keep me alive
We take them for granted but by god they work night and day.

You do honestly think its easier on everyone if you're not here, ive been there...many times. Im heaps better now after being at very very dark places. Unless you suffer with severe MHI you wont get it or understand. You do see the wood for the trees eventually, life is worth living...its just seeing it in times of severe distress.
