Did you tell your surgeon you had BDD?
They usually signpost you for an assessment before operating.
It may take time to live with your new nose as its sometimes a shock but I bet it looks much better than your previous one. Enjoy it!! 💕

This is the problem with offering surgery to people with body dysmorphia. It's cured your nose but it hasn't cured your BD. So now you just hate your new nose instead. You can't necessarily cure a psychiatric disorder with a physical solution.

I imagine it will be much the same for some people with gender dysmorphia, which is why we should not be too quick to offer irreversible surgery and hormone treatment.

I’m diagnosed BDD too. It developed in my teens following 2 serious sexual assaults and having been bullied for my appearance as a 4 year old onwards by older children. I haven’t had surgery because it’s thought by BDD experts that it can make the disorder worse, or that the BDD patient will then focus on another body part. Since having CBT and put on medication - Venlafaxine - I’ve been able to manage the condition and the intrusive thoughts better.
