Last week, via the unshaven method, it took 8 hours for the doctor to individually extract 2000 hair grafts. These were then sorted into 1, 2 & 3 hair follicles then inserted into my forehead. I had this done in Istanbul. I am 46 and have always had thin hair at the front, it has though gotten worst over the years and affected my confidence. Ask away !

Gosh it's looking good!

But the shedding must be nerve wracking. You've got to lose all your new hair growth and then it will come back?

Dustyblue · 11/04/2024 07:25

Wow, how exciting it must be to feel & see it grow!

So once established, does this 'last forever'? Or will it need to be re-done at some point?

Good for you OP, I hope it turns out beautifully.

Clearinguptheclutter · 11/04/2024 08:24

Do you get any after care at all, I am thinking eg virtual consultations

poppym12 · 11/04/2024 08:47

This is amazing. I really hope you end up with the hair you want.

I'd love to do this but my loss is FPB thanks to menopause so the fringe area has thinned quite a lot and now the top of my head is thinning out too so I doubt it would work for me.

Im dreading it to be honest. I met the patient who was in the day after me and we’ve stayed in touch and send each other daily forehead updates. Hers has already started shedding, so mine will start soon. As with all cosmetic procedures, I need to trust the process (easier said than done!)

You are sent home with a pack and post op instructions. I’ve been in touch with the chap who organised everything for me and also the doctor via WhatsApp. On both occasions they’ve responded quickly. My healing has went very well. I had a facelift earlier this year in the UK (2024 is my glow up year following cancer / chemo etc) and met the surgeon the day after that at the hospital and then 6 weeks later. I’ve healed well on both occasions and (thankfully) not needed any further contact. However on the flipside, I did go for a doctor in Turkey who was defo more experienced (and therefore also €€€€) than the hair mills out there who will transplant your hair for a lot cheaper to minimise any risks as much as possible.

Thank you, me too ! My hair is / was thin on top, but thankfully I had enough at the back of my head to transplant. Are you sure you don’t have enough at the back to bulk the top of your head out somewhat (assuming you’d be interested in getting it done).

That's great and good luck; I hope it's a success!

The back is still quite thick. I've noticed the sides thinning a bit but it's the front that has bothered me most.

Mine's more of a diffuse thinning compared to your photos. I don't have any completely hair free bits but by the amount of scalp I can see, I fear it's heading that way.

I'm VERY interested.......

bloodyeffinnora · 25/05/2024 08:39

hi OP, can you give us an update on how your hair is now? thanks

goneveryquiet · 06/06/2024 18:10

How are you doing?

Witchinawell · 08/06/2024 07:54

Not much to see yet, it’s a bit of a waiting game and takes upto 12 months to see the final results. Here some progress pics. Going to hair dressers to go a bit blonder as getting rid of the box dye ginger.

The difference is really striking. I'm pleased for you!

ChanelNo19EDT · 08/06/2024 12:15

wow, that looks like it's going according to plan!

SquashPenguin · 08/06/2024 12:32

My partner has been to Istanbul three times for a hair transplant (different parts of his head each time), and the results are just amazing. It’s given him so much confidence.

perhapsatea · 05/08/2024 21:28

@Witchinawell how are you getting on? :)

bloodyeffinnora · 07/08/2024 13:14

ooh yes I'd be interested to know how you're getting on too

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 07/08/2024 16:41

I’d love an update too. We’re all “rooting” for you!

Do you know the approximate cost? (Hope it’s ok to ask you that.) I’ve got an area of androgenetic alopecia about the size of a £2 coin that I’d like a transplant on. If it’s 1 or 2k I’d consider it, but if it’s likely to cost a lot more than that I’d probably give up on the dream of getting it done and just continue to fill it with ColorWow every morning instead!

bloodyeffinnora · 12/09/2024 20:57

hi OP, any chance of an update?

lovenest · 07/02/2025 23:04
