Have NC’d for this AMA, but have spoken about my job on other topics and after a few posters have mentioned doing an AMA I’ve decided to take the plunge, as I have time to answer replies this afternoon! Some context, I am a forensic psychologist and work across 8 prisons in the UK, 3 of which are for women. I develop programs to prepare and help residents prior to release, for some release is dependant on attending these programs. My role is also a significant factor in the parole process, I advise on whether a resident is suitable for release and attend the hearings to back up my views (which often becomes more of an interrogation!) although since the parole reforms under Dominic Raab this process has changed slightly. I also cover a young offenders institute, if there are any specific questions around younger residents. Not sure if this will be of interest but AMA… (I will not be able to identify the prisons I work across or name anyone I have worked with for obvious reasons but just want to make that clear)
