@pastypirate- I can’t quote you- sorry!

Best way to lose weight- stick to a consistent calorie deficit and ensure that you eat adequate protein. Calorie deficit shouldn’t be too low- a good guide to use is the James Smith calorie calculator on his website- MyFitnessPal takes calories too low. If your calorie deficit is too aggressive your body adapts and you’ll need to cut calories lower and lower to continue losing fat- which is bloody miserable if you start too low.

Aim for 8-10k steps per day. 7-8hrs sleep a night, Resistance training 2-3x per week. Consistency will pay off.
Thank you I have screen shot this - thank you what a helpful post xxx

Thank you @Whitechocraspberrycheesecake. This is a great thread so thanks for taking the time to reply!

StarryNightSparkles · 30/01/2022 22:14

Thanks. It's walking I do as I don't like running.

MonsterRehab23 · 30/01/2022 22:41

Great thread OP. You sound like a great personal trainer.

I’ve been going to the gym for 3 months and doing a mixture of swimming, Zumba/sh’bam and a gym workout (cardio and some weight machines).

I’ve just started doing body pump but really struggle with the press ups/crunches element of the class would yoga be a better way for me to build core strength?

Also what’s the best way to build lean muscle and reduce overall body fat? I’ve lost about 10/11 pounds but my overall fat % seems to have increased and my muscle mass/bone density decreased.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Thank you @Whitechocraspberrycheesecake

SameToo · 31/01/2022 06:45

Also can I ask if you drink alcohol?

Chicci1 · 31/01/2022 06:54

Anything I can do to reduce enormous calves? I know it’s largely down to genetics but would really appreciate guidance on anything i could do. They’re a mix of muscle and fat and are very out of proportion to the rest of me. Thanks

MacNTosh · 31/01/2022 06:58

I’m someone who hasn’t ever really enjoyed exercising, but my biggest problem is that whenever I try I’m in so much pain the following day(s) that it puts me off continuing. How to I start without being in agony afterwards? I don’t have any health issues, I’m just an unfit middle aged woman who’s a couple of stone overweight.

tootssweet · 31/01/2022 07:01

I have about 3 stones to lose, no motivation but I would like to increase my fitness. I can run about 4K nonstop but don’t do anything at the moment.
I would like to maybe have a couple of PT sessions what should I be looking for when hiring a PT? What might a session look like?
I’m a bit nervous about making a mistake & getting stuck with someone awful

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 31/01/2022 07:44

I've been doing small group PT sessions for the last 3 weeks and I'm so tired of everything hurting.
I'm mid 40's and not done any weights in years. It's kind if putting me off.

When does it stop hurting?
Any ideas for how to make it less painful?

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 31/01/2022 07:50

Also, how do you know if it's just DOMS or if you've really hurt yourself?

My shoulder is really hurting ☹️

2022IamHavingYa · 31/01/2022 08:24

@Whitechocraspberrycheesecake I have booked to do a sprint triathlon in 8 weeks. Whilst I used to open water marathon swim and run a bit, I’ve been mostly out the game the last 2 years. I’ve done a baseline current time for each element (12 mins swim, 1h20 bike and 50 minutes run) How much Tim realistically can I knock off each if I train twice per week for each element? 10%, 15%?

Thanks

BoneWithTheWind · 31/01/2022 10:52
