Yes, I didn’t have a job at all after my first job as a Christmas temp in retail ended so this was the first one I successfully interviewed at looking back they would have accepted anyone and this was no great achievement like I thought at the time.

After a few months I was ‘promoted’ to cold calling to see if we could get people to get an IVA because that was far more lucrative for the company. Flat £800 payment regardless if they actually took one out.

Did you have lots of people who were rude to you?

My response to these calls was to just say sorry ive had anything that would have PPI, no loans, store cards, car purchase etc, call ended have a nice day, or if i was busier, i would just say sorry im not interested and hang up. But hanging up felt a bit rude.

I always wonder this too. I feel terrible being rude because I know it's just someone doing a job but we get so many calls on our landline. Even registering our phone number with that anti-cold calls line barely helped.

I have a qs - if someone asked you to remove their telephone number from your database would you do it?
